Episode 7
A visit to the village of Dobalu
The advice that was given to Kekuta by his grandfather the night before was a very beneficial one. It was like a classroom lesson to Kekuta. It refurbished in Kekuta; courage and determination which he nearly lost due to the experience he had in his compound upon returning from a hunting trip. Gradually, Kekuta became more responsive and adaptable about the unevenness of human beings toward someone considered successful. Whiles in bed, he reasoned a lot. He thought about his career throughout the night and nearly forgot that he should travel in the succeeding day. He sensed that he may be betrayed by his people any day he arrives without a catch. But since he was not yet betrayed, he kept his prudence.
Kekuta woke up early in the morning. He sat at the middle of the compound waiting on his grandfather. This was very unusual because Faaduta used to be the first person to wake up the compound. He had spent some time outside before the appearance of the old Pa. When Faaduta opened the door and saw his grandchild sitting, he knew vividly that He didn’t sleep in the past night. He rushed to him and said “Good morning Kekuta. I hope you are well.” Kekuta replied back humbly and said “I am well my dear. Don’t be bothered”. He added by saying “old people worry too much. Have you forgotten that I should be travelling to the village of Dobalu today?”. Ohh! Ohh! There you come, there you come- shouted Faaduta. Kekuta then told him to wait for him as he hurriedly went inside and packed his luggage for the journey. He later came out and they prayed together. Finally, the journey to
Dobalu began.
Dobalu was a neighboring village found north to Tendala (the village of Kekuta). It was inhabited by people who were usually farmers. The village was named after the main function it performed. This was farming. The natives grew rice, groundnut, coos and millet. All the neighboring villages near Dobalu needed the feeds grown. Thus, people from Dobalu were very significant. On the other hand, they also relied on the hunters from Tendala to get meat. This made their relationship mutually supporting.
The hippos in Dobalu were very indiscipline, immoral and inimical to the rice farmer, his farm and his farming desires. The intensity of this unjust condition that was seasonally embossed by Hippos in the rice fields of these farmers became extremely dirty. Rice farmers cried both day and night for a possible savior from the wrath of hippos in their fields. They have employed several mechanisms like poisoning and scaring but despite all that; the situation continued. It became uncontrollable as they were sort of options. They decided to ask questions until they found an answer. Unanimously, they all agreed that the great hunter from Tendala was the only answer to their seemingly-endless problem. They sent a delegation to meet Faaduta who promised that his grandchild will come to their aid. This was why Kekuta left for the village of Dobalu.
